I can't believe that deviantART has been around for 14 years and that I've been here almost that whole time.  My first account was created 13 years ago and I've since transitioned through two other usernames (before changes were possible) to land here.  I still maintain two accounts, this one to share my own art and another account that has 12 years of history of favorites and followed artists from over the years that I still use for that purpose.  There's nothing else like it on the Internet and it's been cool to see it grow over time.

When I first started it was mostly to follow other artists (I was taking a break from photography for a few years) and found great inspiration here that ultimately led me back to the camera to create my own art again.

Happy birthday deviantART and here's hoping for many more to come!

I'm excited, I just picked up a pair of used Bronica SQ series cameras with lens, backs and finders.  I love film.  I shot film (35mm) until 2009 when my venerable Nikon F4s finally developed problems and would no longer meter (which causes it to not trigger the shutter..).  I figured it was past time to make the change so I bought my current D700 and don't regret it at all but I've still found myself missing the look and feel of real film images.

So I started doing research on a 6x6 (120/220) camera system.  I figured that if I wanted to shoot film again I wanted to make the move up to a larger negative size and I've always been drawn to the 6x6 square format.  I looked at Hasselblads but the cost just spirals out of control once you get past the body and maybe one lens.  The Bronicas were my second choice originally but after a lot of research and patiently watching eBay I finally managed to pick up a great condition SQ-Ai body to get me started.  Now I've managed to pick up a second auction of a SQ-B body with lens, 120 back and waist level finder for less money than the lens, back and finder would normally cost individually!  I'll likely turn around and resell the B body and grab the motor drive grip for the Ai.

Now if UPS could just come up with instant delivery options...

I spent this past weekend up in Lancaster, California at Scary Barn Studios for a photoshoot featuring the best group of models I've seen in one shoot - Miss Mosh, Ulorin Vex, Scar and Jesse Pagz.

It was a great shoot.  Because it was a group shoot we worked in pairs and I ended up with a great partner - Michael Quan, his work is definitely worth a look.

The ladies were such a joy to work with and I feel like I got some really good images that I'm eager to share with everyone.  I just uploaded my first teaser photo featuring Miss Mosh but I'll be adding more over the coming days so keep an eye out for them.

One of my favorite things of the year.  CCI 2001 starts today with Preview Night and runs until Sunday.  This will be my 13th year running attending (being a local is great).  Looking forward to all the cool stuff and hope to run into some of my favorite dA'ers too.
